Being Connected

Well, this is a first.  I'm underway from Escondido to Ballandra this morning.  What is new is that I'm sitting in the cockpit and connected to the internet.  Internet access on the Baja side of the Sea of Cortez is, well, sparse.  We have a Wilson cell booster, and have our Telcel USB modem plugged into a TPLink wireless hotspot to provide access.  We need to be somewhat line of sight to a tower though we can be up to 30mi offshore.  Next year we will look into one of the new Irriduim Go devices that provide data anywhere anytime.  The prices are becoming reasonable and both Susan and I have needs t get online regularly.  The addition of vastly improved access to weather info and another method to send emergency communications makes this easy to justify.  Now, if I could only see my screen a little better with all the sunshine.....
